How Solar Power Works
PowerReady Solar assists your progress toward an off-the-grid lifestyle.
Solar panels and photovoltaics (PV) generate power for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
PV Site Assessment
Before a PV system can be designed or installed at a location, the site must be assessed for the amount of sunlight that can be captured and converted to electricity. Our engineers are skilled at site evaluation so you can be sure that your PV system will give you optimal performance.
PV System Design
Our engineers can prepare site-specific PV designs for new construction or retrofits. Designs may be based upon budget, available space or desired system function or performance. Tell us your needs and we will help you to achieve them in the most cost-effective manner. We can design battery-backup grid-connected systems or non-battery-backup grid-connected systems. We have had more than 40 of our designs certified by the Florida Solar Energy Center.
PV System Component Specification
We prepare specification packages and component lists for all systems we design. Components specified include everything from PV modules to inverters to wire sizes and types to ground lugs to terminal blocks, as well as component enclosures, circuit breakers and disconnects. Along with component specification, we recommend locations for the various PV system components to be installed.
Prepare all Documents Needed for Permit Applications
We work closely with building departments to ensure that we provide them with what they need in order to perform plan checks and inspections.
Provide PV Structural Design and Analysis
We have a good understanding of wind loading requirements and can design standard mounting systems to meet wind load requirement as high as 150 mph. When a special structure is desired for a PV system, we coordinate with structural engineers so they understand the requirements of the mounting structure for the PV array.
Facilitate Execution of Utility Interconnect Agreements
We are familiar with the procedures for obtaining permission to interconnect PV systems to the utility grid and work with designers, builders or owners to ensure that the proper paperwork is filed in a timely manner.
Provide Installation Cost Estimates for Budgeting Purposes
Since we have a history of successful PV installations (references available on request), we have the knowledge needed to provide design professionals, builders or owners with reliable figures for installation costs.
Provide Installation Management
We routinely provide guidance to the contractor if supervision of the PV installation is requested. We make sure that the system installation is code-compliant, and, most importantly, that it performs up to specifications.
